JR Kyushu will carry out track maintenance work, which will result in the suspension of train services during daytime hours, on the Nippo Main Line between Saiki Station and Nobeoka Station for two days on May 27 (Tue) and June 24 (Tue), 2025.
The work will be carried out for about six hours from around 9:00 to around 15:00 on both days, affecting a total of six express trains, three in each direction, of the Nichirin and Nichirin Sea Gaia trains that run on the same section during this time. All trains will be suspended between Saiki Station and Miyazaki / Miyazaki Airport Station, and will operate on the normal schedule only between Hakata / Kokura Station and Saiki Station.
Please note that there will be no replacement transportation by buses or other means in the construction area, so those planning to travel between Oita and Miyazaki should take caution.
In addition, between Nobeoka Station and Miyazaki / Miyazaki Airport Station, a special express train “Hyuga” will run at approximately the same times and stop at the same stations as the suspended “Nichirin” and “Nichirin Sea Gaia” trains.
By the way, there are very few local trains between Saiki Station and Nobeoka Station, and no local trains will be running during the work period. In particular, there is only one downbound train leaving Shigeoka Station at 6am, so the station is famous among train fans as the station with “the earliest final train in Japan.”
