JR Central will be selling the “JR Central Summer Unlimited Ticket” for Tokaido Shinkansen users, a special ticket that allows unlimited rides on all of the company’s conventional lines for two days, for the summer only.
Perfect for family outings on local lines
The period of use is from July 19 (Sat) to September 10 (Wed), 2025, including summer vacation and Obon, and allows unlimited rides on ordinary cars on local and rapid trains in the JR Central area for two consecutive days. Limited express and rapid trains, including the Shinkansen, cannot be used. The ticket will cost 3,900 yen for adults and 1,900 yen for children, and will go on sale from July 4 (Fri).
This is the first time this product will be available, and it can be thought of as a JR Central area limited edition with the same effect as the “Seishun 18 Ticket,” which can be used on all JR lines. The adult ticket costs 1,950 yen per day, which is cheaper than the 2,410 yen (for 5 days) of the “18 Ticket.” There is also a child’s ticket that is not included in the “18 Ticket,” so it seems to be a good fit for family outings, but there are conditions for the sale of this ticket. It can only be purchased by those who have made a reservation for the Tokaido Shinkansen with a destination between Atami Station and Maibara Station using the “EX Service,” such as from Tokyo Station to Atami Station, or from Shin-Osaka Station to Nagoya Station.
Check the purchase and collection method
When you purchase a Shinkansen that meets the conditions, a banner for the “Summer Unlimited Travel Ticket” will appear on the “EX Travel Destination Reservation” screen. From here, you will be redirected to the JR West Online Reservation “e5489” site, where you can purchase the ticket, and then pick up the ticket at the JR Central ticket counter or a corresponding ticket vending machine by the day of the start date of use and use it. However, they cannot be picked up at border stations with other JR companies that are not connected to the Shinkansen, such as Kofu Station and Kozu Station, or at stations operated by non-JR Central.
JR Central will place digital stamps at 40 station spots on all 12 conventional lines to hold the “Summer Travel by Rail! TOSPO Stamp Rally.” There will be eight challenges, including the “Unexplored Station Challenge,” where you can participate in a lottery to win original goods. There are challenges that can be completed simply by purchasing the “Summer Unlimited Travel Ticket,” and “TOKAI STATION POINT” giveaways are also available.
