Nankai Electric Railway will operate the limited express “rapi:t” wrapped in the “PEANUTS x STARLUX” promotion developed by Taiwan’s Starlux Airlines.
Collaboration with “5-star” Starlux Airlines
Starlux Airlines is a full-service carrier that has been operating since 2020 based at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, and boasts high-quality service that has earned it the highest rating of “5 stars” in the world airline rankings by Skytrax. It operates 14 flights per week between Kansai International Airport and Taipei (Taoyuan), and will celebrate its 5th anniversary of launching at Kansai Airport on December 15 (Mon), 2025.
From May, it has started a promotion in collaboration with the globally loved comic “PEANUTS” to develop boarding passes and in-flight goods with Peanuts designs. As part of this, the body of the Nankai rapi:t, which connects Osaka Namba and Kansai Airport, will feature Snoopy wearing an astronaut helmet and his friends flying through the starry sky to pursue their dreams.
Nankai’s internationally-themed wrapped trains
The subject of the wrapping is a 6-car 50000 series rapi:t train that runs between Namba Station and Kansai Airport Station, and is scheduled to run from June 29 (Sun), 2025 to around mid-December. Kansai Airport is one of Starlux’s first destinations in Japan, and the company aims to express its gratitude to people and promote overseas travel, including to Taiwan. This is the first time that the company has wrapped trains in Japan.
Nankai, which plays a part in the transportation of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, currently operates five types of wrapped trains with an international feel. In addition to wrapping trains promoting the Expo, the rapi:t express train also operates a “Malaysia Tourism Year 2026 Campaign” and a collaborative train with the Swiss sister railway “MOB (Montreux-Oberland-Bernois Railway)”. In addition, wrapping trains are being developed in collaboration with the Taoyuan Metro (Taiwan) and the Saudi Arabian Cultural Agency, respectively, for the Nankai Line’s general train 8300 series.
