Tokyu Railways will expand the paid seat reservation service “Q SEAT” currently being implemented on Toyoko Line and Oimachi Line outbound trains to Toyoko Line inbound trains from July 22 (Tue), 2025.
First time on six weekday evening inbound trains
Q SEAT is a service that converts seats with wider seating than normal cars from long seats to cross seats, providing a comfortable travel time with a seat. Free Wi-Fi and power outlets are available on board, and some seats are also equipped with cup holders. The service started on the Oimachi Line in December 2018, and on the Toyoko Line, the service has been provided on some express trains departing from Shibuya Station and bound for Motomachi-Chukagai Station during weekday evening commute times from October 2022.
This time, the Q SEAT service will be implemented for the first time on some Toyoko Line inbound trains departing from Motomachi-Chukagai Station and bound for Shibuya Station. The target is six express trains that run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, based on the starting station, and the trains used are the 10-car 5050 series, the same as the outbound trains. Tickets will be sold for each seat in car 5, which has a total of 45 seats, at 500 yen per person (same price for adults and children).
No free boarding and alighting sections for inbound trains
A reserved seat ticket is required for inbound trains regardless of the boarding and alighting section, and all stations on the Minatomirai Line and Yokohama Station are treated as boarding-only stations, and reserved seats for disembarking in this section will not be sold. Both boarding and alighting are possible from Kikuna Station onwards. Reserved seats will not be sold in advance, but will be sold on the day of boarding in three ways: through ticketless service, at station counters, and onboard sales, but please note that they will not be sold at Minatomirai Line station counters.
The Q SEAT that is implemented on weekday evenings on the Toyoko Line outbound trains will be applicable to seven express trains as before, and there will be no change to the treatment of the free boarding and alighting section from Yokohama Station onwards without the need for a reserved seat ticket. The Q SEAT currently offered on Oimachi Line express trains will also continue as usual.
