Fujisanroku Electric Railway will operate the “Fujiyama Beer” event train on July 26 (Sat), 2025, where you can enjoy craft beer brewed in Fujiyoshida City, Yamanashi Prefecture, along the line.
Popular craft beer made with natural water from Mt. Fuji
The area around the Fuji Five Lakes is a treasure trove of famous water, where rain and snow that falls on Mt. Fuji seeps deep underground through natural filtration devices such as lava. At the Fujiyama Beer brewery, located at an altitude of about 900m, craft beer is produced using natural water from Mt. Fuji pumped up from 100m underground and high-quality malt from Europe, and the attached cafe restaurant is a popular tourist attraction.
The dedicated train using the 1000 series “Fuji Tozan Railway” cars runs from Otsuki Station (departing at 15:04) to Kawaguchiko Station (arriving at 16:11), and you can have as many refills of freshly poured Fujiyama beer as you like from the beer server on board. Snacks can be brought on board freely, and snacks, tea, and other soft drinks can be purchased on board. There are no toilets on board, but toilet breaks will be provided at stations along the way where trains will be passing one another.
Beer also available on an extra train before the event
The event, which allowed passengers to enjoy unlimited Fujiyama beer on Fujikyu Railway trains, was held in September 2017, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors, and this will be the first time it has been held in about eight years. The fee is 3,800 yen per person, and includes the fare for the event train, unlimited beer, and a free original melamine cup. Applications will be accepted until July 21 (Mon/holiday) on the Fujikyu Group’s mail order site, “Fujikyu Norimono Hyakkaten.” If the number of applications exceeds the capacity of 40 people, participants will be selected by lottery.
Although it is not included in the price above, on the day, an extra rapid train will depart Kawaguchiko Station (12:39) bound for Otsuki Station (arriving at 13:29), stopping only at Mt. Fuji Station on the way, and beer will be sold on board for 500 yen per glass. In addition, the event train will be parked at Kawaguchiko Station after operation until 17:40, and beer (500 yen) will also be sold on board. If you participate in all of them, it will be a special day where you can fully enjoy the Fujikyu Railway Line and beer for up to about 5 hours.
