Earthquake-damaged Tohoku Shinkansen resumed – takes extra time due to slow driving

On April 14, 2022 (Thu), JR East will resume operation of all sections of the Tohoku Shinkansen, which had been suspended between Fukushima and Sendai due to the impact of the earthquake.

JR East announced that it plans to resume operation of the Tohoku Shinkansen, which is partially closed due to the earthquake that occurred off the coast of Fukushima Prefecture, from April 14, 2022 (Thu).

Due to the collapse of the slope beside the railroad track, JR Hokkaido is canceling operation between Kutchan Station and Shikaribetsu Station on the Hakodate Line. (As of 22:45 on April 7, 2021)
