The Korean railway route map provided by the free smartphone app “World Transit Maps” is now compatible with the latest “tile format (v2)” and available from May 4 (Sun), 2025.
The global app “World Transit Maps” allows users to view railway maps for free at any time, and currently distributes railway maps for 11 countries and regions around the world. The Korean railway map has been distributed since February 2016, and in addition to the conventional “download method” that loads a large map file the first time, the app now supports a new “tile method” that loads small map data that fits on the screen being viewed.
The transit map covers all routes and stations, from subways and commuter trains in major areas such as Seoul and Incheon metropolitan, Daejeon, Gwangju, Daegu, and Busan, to the intercity high-speed trains “KTX” and “SRT”, and the conventional trains of Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) that run to the suburbs. The design is faithful to the actual geography, making it easy to grasp directions and distances, and has greatly improved convenience during actual travel such as rail travel. The tile-based system also has a wide range of unique functions, such as a current location marker and icon display of suspended sections.
The Korean route map is available in five languages: Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese (Simplified / Traditional), making it easy for a wide range of travelers to use. To switch to the tile format, simply tap the “Layer button” on the route map screen. You can also switch back from the tile format to the download format, so you can choose the style of route map you prefer.
We will gradually make route maps for other countries and regions that are currently provided in download format compatible with the tile format in the future.
