The “Snowpal 23:55” is popular overnight train for skiers and snowboarder departing from the Tokyo metropolitan area at midnight, and you can arrive at the ski resort in Aizu Kogen, Fukushima Prefecture at around 6 o’clock in the early morning. Operating days (based on Asakusa Station) are every Friday and Saturday from January 8 (Friday) to March 27 (Saturday), 2021. In addition, it also operated on January 10 (Sunday) and February 10 (Wednesday) and February 22 (Monday), which are the day before public holidays.
It departs Asakusa Station at 23:55 (also available from Kita-senju, Shin-koshigaya and Kasukabe Stations), and arrives at Aizukogen-ozeguchi Station at 5:23 after a time of sleeping in the train. You can change to the shuttle bus and get off at “Takatsue Ski Resort” at around 6:30 and at “Daiku Ski Resort” at around 6:50.
The vehicle used for the “Snowpal 23:55” is the limited express “Liberty” 500 series vehicle, and it will be appointed for the third season. Full facilities are available, such as reclinable seats, power outlets for each seat and free Wi-Fi. Tobu Railway encourages people to wear masks in the car and keep conversations modest.
The “Snow Pal 23:55” will be sold as a travel product of Tobu Top Tours, which includes a return train and a one-day list ticket for each ski resort. This season, for those who want a social distance, a plan that can be used by 2 seats per person is also available for an additional 1,000 yen. The purchase period is from one month before departure to 17:00 on Friday of each departure week.
