A new station, ‘Takanawa Gateway Station (高輪ゲートウェイ, JY26/JK21)’, has been established between Tamachi and Shinagawa stations (Tokyo) on the JR Yamanote & Keihin-Tohoku Lines, and started business on March 14, 2020. The 3-letter code ‘TGW’ is given on the information boards. This station was constructed by rebuilding the site of the old train fleet center, which has become no longer used, and relocating their tracks. People can transfer to Sengakuji Station on the Keikyu Main Line and Toei Asakusa Line, which is about 300 meters northwest from there. The area around the station will be redeveloped over the next few years under the concept of “The Global Gateway”.
